The Liturgy of the Word for Children is a special program offered during the 9:30 a.m. Sunday Mass at our parish. This program provides an opportunity for children to hear the Sunday Scripture readings proclaimed and explained in a way that is meaningful and understandable for their age level. It helps children to engage more deeply with the Word of God and to grow in their faith within the context of the Mass.
During the Liturgy of the Word for Children, the children are invited to leave the main assembly after the opening prayer and gather in a separate space. There, trained volunteers guide them through the readings, offering explanations, reflections, and interactive discussions to help them relate the message of the Scriptures to their own lives. This format allows children to connect with the Word of God in a personal and meaningful way, fostering a deeper understanding and love for the Bible.
Who Can Participate?
All children are welcome to participate in the Liturgy of the Word for Children—no registration is required. Whether they attend regularly or are visiting for the first time, all are invited to join in this enriching experience. The program is designed to be inclusive and accessible to children of various ages, providing them with a space to encounter God’s Word at their own level.
How to Get Involved
We are always looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help with this important ministry. If you feel called to assist in sharing the Word of God with our younger parishioners, we would love to hear from you. Volunteers help by leading the sessions, reading the Scriptures, assisting with activities, or simply being a supportive presence. Training and resources are provided to ensure that all volunteers feel prepared and confident in their roles.
If you are interested in volunteering or learning more about how you can support the Liturgy of the Word for Children, please contact the parish office. Your involvement can make a significant difference in helping our children grow in their faith and understanding of the Scriptures.
We encourage all families to take advantage of this wonderful program and look forward to seeing many young faces at the 9:30 a.m. Sunday Mass, eager to learn more about God's love and His Word.
